Street Photography Locations in Seoul
This is a brief summary of the locations I visited whilst staying the month in Seoul.
I shot all of these locations on my Fujifilm X-E4 and X-H1 with mixed primes with the majority being on Fuji 35mm f2.
Locations
Gyeongbokgung Palace
One of many palaces I visited on my trip but this stand out as the best for its overall palace design, layout and gardens. This is an excellent place to play around with framing even in the midday sun due to the palace's many small walkways.
The entrance fee for the palace was £3, this is the same for all other palaces.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)
Another great location for those who love architecture photography and those that like to photography silhouettes and people in a larger scene.
This is super easy to get too as with most popular areas in Seoul there are strong metro links. This particular area has its own metro labeled Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). This is a public building with lots of amazing pockets of light that are constantly shifting. I personally spent around 1 hour there at two different times of day each time I came away with something different.
Aside from a brief walk around the building there are usually some displays that are great to go look around but you will have to pay for these.
Jasmil Stadium
During our stay in Seoul we attended two baseball games to watch Doosan bears. Aside from these photography opportunities this is a really unique experience to watch KBO. Unfortunately I do not have a longer focal length and only have a 90mm as my longest lens. However I still got some great images I am happy with as well as a good evening.
Tickets are super cheap especially in the far end seats i think we paid £13 for two tickets.
Lotte Tower
If you want a good Birds Eye view of the city there are two options. Seoul City Tower or Lotte tower. Lotte tower provides a unbelievable view and some great reflections in the tower to play around with. Entrance fee was quite steep at £30.
That’s it for single attractions as for notable areas to walk around there are a few I recommend:
Myeong-Dong
Gangnam
War memorial museum
Ihwa mural village and Seoul Wall
Bukhansan Mountain trail
Seoul City Hall and surrounding area
N Seoul Tower.
